Welcome to the Jersey Shore Touring Society!

My passion for bicycling has grown over the last decade and undeniably my affiliation with JSTS has been a major part of it.  Once I became introduced to group cycling, I was hooked.
Most people that know me also know that I like a good challenge.  I like chasing the fastest riders that I can find on the road, I like sprinting up a hill and my passion for cycling has also led me to indoor training, not only in the winter time.  If I can channel this same passion I have to leading as I already have for riding, I am confident that all will go fine.
Recently on one of our rides, the discussion of changing gears from the small chain ring to the large chain ring came up between two members.  One of these members is a seasoned veteran and the other is an up and coming, good, strong rider.  However, this up and coming rider didn't know why or when to change from one chain ring to the other.  I hope to put together meetings where we discuss these issues and so many others related to our favorite toy.  I will also put together hands-on workshops where our most experienced can show the newcomers the correct way to change a flat, why and how to change a gear cassette and the many other nuances of operating and caring for our two wheel wonders.  Obviously there is much to learn and I know we have those in our midst that will be more than willing to teach us.  It will be my pleasure with the help of others to put these workshops together.
Let's face it: at the end of the day it's all about riding and the countless hours of hard work by others has made that part of what we all love to do very easy.                       -Harold
